Achieving Success

Achieving Success at NLU

Academic advising is a collaborative educational process. Students and their academic advisors are partners in meeting the essential learning outcomes that support student success. The partnership requires participation and involvement of both the academic advisor and the student and spans the student's whole education experience at NLU. In this partnership both the advisor and advisee have responsibilities.

Students have many resources available at NLU to assist in achieving success. Successful students take advantage of these services and resources and take an active role in their education. Your academic advisor can provide assistance and direction along the way.

To achieve success at NLU, we expect our students to:

  • Respect instructors and fellow classmates
  • Become familiar with all NLU policies and procedures (refer to Student Guidebook and current catalog)
  • Assume personal responsibility for his/her academic success by:
    • Attending all class sessions
    • Arriving to class on time
    • Completing assignments on time
    • Seeking tutoring when needed
    • Completing his/her own work
