Biography
Dr. John T. Stovall, a composition specialist, has taught writing at all levels from developmental to graduate students and helped design programs and graduate courses to train college teachers of freshman composition and developmental writing. In addition to teaching, Dr. Stovall is currently involved with the writing assessment of all incoming undergraduate students and has worked with writing assessment for the College Board and its Advanced Placement program and as working as a rater for the Educational Testing Service’s Graduate Record Exam. He also conducts workshops for faculty and staff writing assessors at NLU in different disciplines.Other activities include coordinating the College of Arts and Sciences’ Writing Across the Curriculum Project and conducting research and workshops on avoiding plagiarism. He also is presently serving as the local curator of the College of Arts and Science’s local gallery in the National Gallery of Writing, sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English and the planning of other local activities for the National Day on Writing in October 2009. His poetry and prose has been published in various literary and other magazines and journals.
