National Louis University commemorated Veterans Day 2012 with a series of events, culminating with the dedication and ribbon-cutting of its new Veterans Lounge at the Chicago campus.

Staff Sergeant Paul Millbrandt, Bachelor of Science in Management student and a veteran of action in Operation Enduring Freedom, spoke about his role as the president of the newly formed Student Veterans Association at NLU.
 

Staff Sergeant Tammy Burton, Doctor of Community Psychology candidate, spoke on the critical needs facing veterans returning from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Veterans Lounge is the first major piece of infrastructure built as part of NLU’s Education to Employment (E2) Veterans Initiative,  funded by a grant received from the McCormick Foundation in January 2012. Shawna Yost, NLU student and secretary of the Student Veterans Association, spoke of NLU's participation in the National Roll Call and led the moment of silence that was observed nation-wide at 1 p.m. CST.
