International Student Life at NLU
Did you know that NLU is a genuinely global community? Our international students—hailing from more than 50 countries—are an essential element of National Louis University’s vibrant culture! One of the great perks of our location in a major city like Chicago is the opportunity to host talented students and scholars from around the world.
At NLU, the Office of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) is your gateway to the wider world. ISSS provides support to international students for a successful transition to the United States and assists students considering study abroad opportunities. ISSS provides international student assistance with the basics of visa status maintenance, employment and internship regulations, and adjustment to academic life at NLU. It also organizes group outings and activities for international students that take advantage of all the unique cultural amenities to be found in the City of Chicago!
Here is a sample of recent activities bringing together NLU’s international student community.
ISSS hosted an international student meet-and-greet on Wednesday, February 16 at Pizano’s in Chicago’s Loop!
On Sunday, February 27 from 2-4 PM, ISSS brought international students to Chicago’s historic Garfield Park Conservatory!
At the solidarity event, “NLU Supports Ukraine,” NLU international students shared their support for the people of Ukraine.
NLU International Students attended the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on March 17 at 7:30PM. It was a beautiful concert featuring music from Mozart, Haydn & Handel.
On Wednesday, April 27 at 7:30PM, NLU international students watched the award-winning Chicago Shakespeare Theater perform Shakespeare’s play, All’s Well that Ends Well.
ISSS brought NLU international students to a Chicago Fire FC major league soccer game on Saturday, May 14.
