Noted Florida Educator Named to Deanship at National Louis University 

 

CHICAGO, July 10, 2024 – National Louis University (NLU) announced that Sarah Lukas, Ed.D., has been appointed Dean of Florida Programs for the university’s southeastern campus, effective July 1, 2024. Lukas previously served as the Director of Academic Operations at the Tampa-based campus.

“NLU is experiencing phenomenal growth in all areas of our Florida student population.  This is due, ln large part to the dedication and commitment of Dr. Sarah Lukas and other faculty and administrators.  As NLU continues to grow, we recognize that advancing our institutional mission of preparing and equipping students to achieve their educational dreams and experience social and economic mobility, will require leadership by visionary administrators like Dean Lukas,” said NLU President, Dr.  Nivine Megahed.  

In her prior role as Director of Academic Operations, Lukas was responsible for creating new programs, securing programmatic accreditation, and renewing licensure programs.  In her new role, Lukas will lead the Tampa campus academic operations and programs and collaborate with NLU’s graduate college deans to ensure academic cohesion and integration with college programming. She will also supervise, evaluate, and support Tampa programs and their faculty to promote excellence in instruction, and foster scholarly and creative productivity.  In her new role, Lukas will continue reporting directly to Anthony Spano, Executive Director of the Florida Campus and work in partnership with the University Provost as a member of the University Academic Cabinet. 

“I have had the honor of working with Dr. Lukas for several years now, and witnessed her contributions to the success of our academic programs in Florida,” said University Provost Dr.  Eddie Phillips, “Our students and our university have benefitted from her passion for academic excellence in the classroom,” he added.    

Prior to joining NLU, Dr. Lukas served as an Assistant Principal in the Orange County school system, and spent a decade in educational leadership in various districts throughout the state, training teachers and instructional coaches on various topics, including cooperative learning, content-based literacy, technology in classrooms, multi-sensory reading instruction, and Reading Endorsement competency courses.

Dr. Lukas earned her B.S. in Social Science Education from Florida State University, and a master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.  She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.  She currently resides in central Florida.
