These professional development sessions are intended to support faculty to build their skill and comfort in order to more effectively integrate writing into their classes and support student writers.
Strategies to Support Student Writing Across the Disciplines
The goal of this series is to support faculty to build their skill and comfort in order to more effectively integrate writing into their classes and support student writers.
Over the course of the year, we hope to establish a shared understanding of how students develop as readers and writers and to build faculty skill at effectively integrating student writing into cross-disciplinary classes and in responding to student writers, including those who are multilingual and multidialectal.
Part I. Mindsets and Approaches to Advance Student Writing - November 10, 2022
Through a discussion of asset-focused language and subtractive schooling, participants consider why a mindset shift– about student learners and about themselves as writing teachers–is a critical first step to successfully advancing student writing across disciplines.
