Dr. Carla D. Foord is an accomplished educator and seasoned leader with over 25 years of experience spanning from early childhood to higher education. She holds a Doctorate in Education from National Louis University, where she also earned an Educational Specialist degree and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. She has been working as an adjunct professor for NLU in the EDL and MAT programs for the last three years.
Dr. Foord's career is distinguished by her diverse roles, including teaching, founding and managing a private childcare business, and serving as an administrator at both the elementary and high school levels. Additionally, she has held the position of Director of Education for a non-profit organization. In that role, she collaborated with the program, the local school district and the Department of Juvenile Justice to support at-risk youth.
As an adjunct faculty member at National Louis University, Dr. Foord has taught graduate and doctoral courses, with a particular focus on mentoring M.Ed. students through their capstone projects. She has also been an integral part of the inaugural faculty for the Master of Arts in Teaching program at the Florida Regional Center, teaching courses in Reading and English as a Second Language. Throughout her career, Dr. Foord has developed a wide range of educational courses for both school districts and private institutions.
Dr. Foord brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experiences to her new role as Assistant Professor for Florida NCE Programs (EDL and MAT). Her passion lies in growing the next generation of educators and supporting school leaders. Her research interests include innovative teaching practices to increase student engagement and the impacts of artificial intelligence (A.I.) in education. She is excited to join NLU full-time and looks forward to working closely with her colleagues in both Florida and Chicago.
