The Patricia Cassin-Graft Student Teacher Assistance Fund Scholarship
National Louis University is pleased to announce that the Patricia Cassin-Graft Student Teacher Assistance Fund Scholarship will soon be accepting applications. This scholarship provides funds to cover all or part of student teaching tuition.
At this time, candidates are strongly encouraged to write an essay, prepare a resume, and seek a letter of recommendation.
Interested candidates must meet the following eligibility guidelines:
- Be a full or part-time degree candidate concentrating in Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Secondary or Special Education.
- Maintain a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
- Completion of all pre-requisite courses for student teaching by the time student teaching begins.
- Candidates applying must have passing Content Test scores on file with NLU to be considered.
- Submit one letter of recommendation from a National Louis University faculty or adjunct who has had you in at least one class within the last 12 months. The faculty member must directly email the letter of recommendation to stapplications@nl.edu by the Friday, September 30, 2022 deadline.
- Submit an essay describing your aspirations and financial needs.
- Submit a resume including the name and phone numbers of your current place of employment, if employed.
- Complete the 2022-2023 FAFSA and demonstrate financial need as assessed by the University’s financial aid office.
- Confirm your intention to teach in the Chicago Public Schools or other high-need, low-income schools where the need for teachers is the greatest.
Once the application opens, you will be receiving notification from your advisor and via social media.

The deadline to apply for a fall, winter, or spring student teaching scholarship is Friday, September 30, 2022. There will be an additional opportunity for winter and spring student teachers to apply in January 2023.
