Two NCE Alumni Receive 2024 Golden Apple Awards

Two NCE Alumnae recently received a 2024 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching. This annual award recognizes outstanding teachers for having lasting, positive effects on students’ lives and school communities. Award recipients demonstrate a significant, positive impact on their students’ growth and learning through their teaching and results.
NCE is proud to announce our 2024 Golden Apple alumnae recipients:
- Precious Allen, a 2nd-grade teacher at Betty Shabazz Academy in Chicago,
Precious is a three-time graduate of NLU, having received her Bachelor’s (’10 Elementary Education), Master’s (’14 Reading) and Educational Specialist (’21 Educational Leadership) degrees. - Olga Nuñez-Johnson, a bilingual General Education teacher at Thomas J. Waters School in Chicago. Olga received her Master’s from NLU in Reading in 2015.
The Golden Apple Foundation is the leading Illinois-based nonprofit committed to preparing, mentoring, and honoring great educators who advance educational opportunities for students. Following a highly competitive process, the 2024 teaching award recipients were selected from more than 600 nominations of Pre-K-3rd grade teachers.
