Meet NCE's Fall Graft Scholars

Dr. Carolyn Theard-Griggs, Dean of the National College of Education, is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Patricia Cassin-Graft Student Teacher Assistance Fund Awards. For the 2024-25 academic year fall scholarships, three students have been honored with this prestigious scholarship.
The Patricia Cassin-Graft Scholarship, established in September 2003 by NCE alumna Patricia Cassin-Graft (Class of 1957) and her husband, Michael Graft, provides financial support to students entering their final term at NCE who plan to work in high-needs schools upon graduation. This endowed scholarship fund has grown through contributions from Pat’s classmates, family, friends, and numerous NLU alumni, faculty, and staff.
To date, 194 Cassin-Graft Scholars have collectively impacted the lives of thousands of children. Here are brief introductions to our five newest Cassin-Graft Scholars:
- Kiqiana Jackson, MAT student in Early Childhood Education
- JaDonna Kendricks, MAT student in Special Education
- Riley Deahl, MAT student in Elementary Education
Patricia Cassin-Graft participated in the interviews and was very impressed with the candidates. Many thanks to the NCE faculty who provided letters of recommendation in support of their students!
