Who is Eligible to Join the UHP
Eligible students must be campus-based in Chicago or Wheeling and have a 3.3 or above as their high school, transfer, or NLU GPA. New students must have already applied and been accepted to NLU.
Transfer or continuing NLU students entering the UHP cannot be in their last three terms of coursework.
Requirements to Maintain Enrollment in the UHP
To remain an Undergraduate Honors Program member in good standing, students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above by the end of the spring term.
Students must also complete their required UHP engagement points* by the end of the spring term (or petition for an extension with the UHP Director). Students can earn points in a variety of ways, choosing to participate in activities or courses that align with their interests or majors, or by participating in university leadership roles. Points are allocated to activities based on the time commitment and engagement required.
- Freshmen and Sophomores must complete 20 UHP points by the end of each academic year (fall, winter, and spring terms) and have their points approved by the UHP Director. (Education majors must complete 15 UHP points).
- Juniors, Seniors, and Transfers must complete 10 UHP points by the end of each academic year (fall, winter, and spring terms) and have their points approved by the UHP Director.
* The list of UHP engagement activities and the tracker for UHP engagement points are found in the Honors Program Learning Community shell in D2L. Students are enrolled in the learning community after being admitted to the program.
