Biography:
Dr. Gina DiMartino is the Director of Online Operations for the Online and Adult Education Unit. Previously, she was the Associate Director of Online Instruction and Assistant Professor in the BA Communications Major Program. Dr. DiMartino obtained her doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at NLU. She applied extensive qualitative research to complete her study, “Burnout and Work Fatigue in Contingent Faculty During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
Gina joined NLU in 2018 and worked closely with Dr. Bettyjo Bouchey to build the online undergraduate program at NLU which focused on creating a quality learning experience for online students. She is an advocate for both faculty and students. Her professional experience includes director, dean, instructor, and TRiO academic skills specialist. Gina is a passionate supporter of lifelong learning. She creates a safe environment for diverse learners to build a solid foundation for higher learning. She feels that all students deserve the right to an affordable and quality education. Her strong administrative background in academic and corporate environments offers students an experiential learning opportunity to apply critical thinking and communication skills to real life scenarios in the workplace.
Dr. DiMartino has proven college teaching experience in both campus and online environments. She takes a comprehensive approach to student learning and is known for her authenticity, dedication and enthusiasm in the classroom. She encourages students to apply critical thinking skills to share in classroom discussions with an appreciation for alternative perspectives. Courses of instruction include business communication, college introduction, critical thinking, student success, interdisciplinary studies, interpersonal communication, and public speaking. Her prior corporate experience includes administrative, human resources, OSHA, and project management. She currently serves on the College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board at Governors State University where she obtained her master’s degree in communication studies and human performance training.
