Biography:
Sara Margaret Rizzo joined the NLU Library in Fall 2019. As a systems librarian, she is responsible for making sure the library’s resources and services are accessible, discoverable, and deliverable. This is done through applying information literacy frameworks and information behavior theories from the field of librarianship to current technology and infrastructure.
Ms. Rizzo collects and analyzes data on the library’s systems and services to assist her colleagues in making data informed decisions. She also participates in the assessment of library services.
Prior to working at NLU, she had spent several years as a Reference, Systems, and Electronic Resources Librarian at universities in New Jersey, as well as in Kazakhstan. She was awarded the 2019 NJLA-CUS/ACRL-NJ Technology Innovation Award for “Map It!”, an application she developed and implemented with a small team of colleagues to help pinpoint the exact location of a book in the library. Ms. Rizzo has also served the profession on a national level as a member of the Executive Board of the American Library Association (ALA) Games & Gaming RoundTable (GameRT) for several years (2014-2020). She is currently a member of the CARLI Electronic Resources Management Committee.
