How to create Course Content
Step 1: Access the Course and Content Tool
- Log in to D2L using your username and password.
- Select Your Course from the My Courses widget..
- In the course navigation bar (navbar), click on Content to open the Content tool.
Step 2: Add External Files to a Module
There are two methods to upload external files from your computer into Brightspace.
Method 1: Drag & Drop Upload
- Navigate to the Content tool and select the module where you want to add content.
- Locate the file(s) on your computer.
- Drag and drop the file(s) into the module.
Method 2: Using the Upload/Create Menu
- Go to the Content tool and select the module where you want to upload files.
- Click on the Upload / Create drop-down menu.
- Select Upload Files.
- Choose the file(s) from your computer and click Open.
- The file will be added to the selected module.
Step 3: Create a New File in D2L
- Navigate to the Content tool and select the module where you want to create content.
- Click the Upload / Create drop-down menu.
- Select Create a File.
- In the Brightspace Editor, enter the file name and content.
- If applicable, use the Select a Document Template menu to choose a pre-made file template.
- Use the Brightspace Editor toolbar to format and customize your content.
Step 4: Save and Publish the File
- Once you have finished creating the document, click Save and Close.
- Review the completed file to ensure it appears correctly in the module.
Step 5: Configure Additional Settings (Optional)
After saving, you can configure additional settings:
- Set Visibility Options: Control whether students can see the file.
- Add Dates and Restrictions: Set start dates, due dates, and end dates for content availability.
- Attach Learning Objectives: Link the content to specific learning objectives.
- Completion Summary: Set completion tracking to monitor student engagement.
Step 6: Navigate Back to the Content Tool
- To continue setting up your course, use the breadcrumbs at the top-left of the page to return to the Content tool.
