How to grade an Assignment
Step 1: Access the Assignments Tool
- Log in to D2L: Start by logging into your D2L Brightspace account using your username and password.
- Navigate to the Course: Select the course that contains the assignment you want to grade.
- Click on Assignments: In the course navigation bar, click on "Assignments" to view all assignments for the course.
Step 2: Select the Assignment to Grade
- Choose the Assignment: From the list of assignments, click on the specific assignment you wish to grade.
Step 3: Choose a Learner's Submission
- Select a Learner: On the assignment page, you will see a list of learners who have submitted the assignment. Click on the name of the learner whose submission you want to grade.
Step 4: Annotate the Submission (Optional)
- Use Annotation Tools: If you want to provide inline feedback, use the drawing and highlighting tools available in the submission viewer.
- Add Inline Comments: Leave comments or notes directly on the submission to give specific feedback on particular sections.
Step 5: Evaluate Using a Rubric (If Applicable)
- Expand the Rubrics Section: If a rubric is attached to the assignment, click to expand the Rubrics section.
- Assess Each Criterion: Evaluate the learner\'s submission by selecting the appropriate level for each criterion in the rubric.
Step 6: Enter the Overall Grade
- Input the Grade: In the Overall Grade field, enter the grade for the assignment.
- Align with Rubric (If Applicable): If a rubric was used, ensure that the grade corresponds to the evaluation provided in the rubric.
Step 7: Provide Additional Feedback and Mark Standards (Optional)
- Add Overall Feedback: In the Overall Feedback field, enter any additional comments or feedback you want to provide to the learner.
- Mark Achieved Standards: If the assignment is linked to specific standards or competencies, mark those that the learner has successfully achieved.
Step 8: Save or Publish the Evaluation
- Choose to Save or Publish:
- Click "Save Draft" to save your evaluation without making it visible to the learner. This allows you to return and make changes later.
- Click "Publish" to immediately make your evaluation, grade, and feedback available to the learner.
