Modify your Brightspace Profile

Creating a personal profile in D2L Brightspace helps you develop meaningful connections with your classmates and instructors. This guide will walk you through how to set up and update your personal profile.

Step 1: Access Your Profile Settings

1. Log in to D2L Brightspace: Start by logging into your D2L Brightspace account using your username and password.
2. Open Your Personal Menu: Click on your name in the top right corner of the screen to open your personal menu.
3. Select Profile: From the dropdown menu, click on "Profile" to access the profile settings page.

Step 2: Add a Profile Picture

1. Click Change Picture: To add or update your profile picture, click the "Change Picture" button.
2. Upload Your Picture: Drag and drop your desired image file onto the upload target, or click to browse your computer for the file.
3. Click Add: Once your picture is uploaded, click "Add" to include it in your profile.
• Note: Depending on your organization’s settings, your profile picture may appear next to your discussion posts, your name in class lists, and in ePortfolio contributions.

Step 3: Update Profile Information

1. Add a Nickname: If you go by a different name than the one listed, you can add a nickname in the "Nickname" field.
2. Include Hometown and Website: You can add details such as where you are from and a link to your personal website or blog in the "Homepage" field.

Step 4: Connect Social Networks

1. Add Social Media Links: In the Social Networks area, you can include links to your social media profiles. This allows classmates to connect with you outside of the course.
• Examples: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

Step 5: Share Contact Information

1. Add Contact Methods: In the Contact Information area, you can share contact methods like your email address or phone number with other users.
• Note: Only share contact information you are comfortable with others seeing.

Step 6: Add Personal Information

1. Scroll to Personal Info: This section allows you to provide more details about yourself.
2. Share Interests and Goals: You can write about your interests, hobbies, favorite books, or future goals to help others get to know you better.

Step 7: Save and Close

Click Save and Close: Once you’ve completed all the desired updates to your profile, click "Save and Close" to apply the changes.
