Submit and Confirm a Submission

Submitting assignments correctly in D2L Brightspace is crucial to ensuring your work is received and graded on time. This guide will walk you through the process of making and confirming an assignment submission.

Step 1: Access the Assignment Submission Area

  1. Log in to D2L Brightspace: Start by logging into your D2L Brightspace account using your username and password.
  2. Navigate to Assignments: From your course home page, click on "Assignments" in the course navigation bar to view all the assignments available for submission.
  3. Select the Assignment: Click on the specific assignment you want to submit your work to.

Step 2: Review Assignment Details

  1. Preview the Assignment: In the Assignments area, you can view important details such as the assignment's due date, end date, instructions, and any feedback from your instructor.
    • Due Date: This is the deadline by which your assignment must be submitted.
    • End Date: This is the final date after which you can no longer submit the assignment, even if the due date has passed.
  2. Read Instructor Instructions: Carefully review any instructions provided by your instructor. This will guide you in completing the assignment correctly.

Step 3: Submit Your Assignment

  1. Go to the Submit Assignment Section: Scroll down to the "Submit Assignment" section within the assignment page.
  2. Click Add a File: Click "Add a File" to begin the process of attaching your assignment.
  3. Select Your File: Browse to the location of the file you want to submit. You can choose files from:
    • Your local computer or storage device
    • A personal locker
    • A group locker
    • Brightspace ePortfolio
  4. Upload Your File: Drag and drop your file onto the upload target or click to browse and select the file from your computer.
  5. Click Add: Once you've selected the file, click "Add" to attach it to your submission.
  6. Review the File Summary: A summary of the file you've uploaded will appear, allowing you to double-check that the correct file has been selected.

Step 4: Submit Additional Information (Optional)

  1. Enter Comments (Optional): If you have any comments or additional information you want to submit with the file, enter them in the comments box.
  2. Text Submissions (Optional): For assignments requiring a text submission, type your work directly into the rich text editor provided.
  3. Mark as Complete (Optional): Some assignments may not require a file submission. Instead, your instructor might ask you to indicate that the assignment is complete by clicking "Mark as Complete." If this option is available, click it before the due date.

Step 5: Finalize and Submit

  1. Click Submit: Once you are ready, click the "Submit" button to complete the submission process.
  2. Review Your Submission: After submitting, review the assignment submission summary. This may look different depending on the assignment type.
  3. Click Done: Click "Done" to return to the main Assignments page.

Step 6: Confirm Your Submission

  1. Check Submission Status: On the Assignments page, look at the "Submissions" column. If you see that one or more submissions have been made, your file has been successfully submitted.
  2. View Submission History: Click on the submission to view details such as the files submitted and the dates associated with each submission.

Open and Review Your Submission: Click on the submitted file to open and review it, ensuring that the correct file was uploaded.
