Biography: 

Arlene Borthwick is Professor Emerita, National College of Education, National Louis University in Chicago, where, over her career, she served as faculty member, department chair, and associate dean. Her service activities have included: chair of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education’s Committee on Innovation and Technology, member of the ISTE Board of Directors, president of ISTE’s SIG for Teacher Educators, and site visitor for NCATE and CAEP. She received the ISTE “Making IT Happen” award in 2008. Her collaborative research and publication endeavors have included serving as one of the founding editors of NLU’s Inquiry in Education online journal (2010); serving as co-editor of a special issue of Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education (2023); and receipt of the “Outstanding Research Paper Award” from the Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education in 2020, and the “Outstanding Paper Award” at the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference in 2023. She has co-edited two books, most recently Championing Technology Infusion in Teacher Preparation: A Framework for Supporting Future Educators (2020).
