Field Placement Application Process

Students must first consult with program faculty before beginning the field placement application.

Undergraduate Student Teaching Application Deadlines

UG Daytime Sophomores:

If you wish to complete field placement in a CPS school for the junior year, the CPS Field Placement Application process must be completed PRIOR to your NLU Field Placement Application process. If you are working in a CPS school and wish to do your placement hours at that school, please let the OFE staff know as they will communicate with CPS and you will not need to do a new criminal background check.  Application due date is January 1st of your sophomore year.

UG Daytime Juniors:

If you wish to complete field placement in a CPS school for the junior year, the CPS Field Placement Application process must be completed PRIOR to your NLU Field Placement Application process. If you did this for your Sophomore year, your CPS Approval is still applicable. Application due date is May 15th of sophomore year.

UG Transfer Juniors:

If you are a transfer student enrolled at NLU and are taking prerequisites OR general education deficiencies, your application is due four weeks prior to starting the junior year sequence. The due dates for each starting term of 2021-2022 are as follows: 

If you are a NEW transfer student and you are beginning your first term and are taking a class with field experience hours, your application is due 8 weeks prior to your second term or by week 5 of your first term at NLU. The due dates for each starting term of 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 are as follows: 

UG Seniors and Post-Bac Students:

If you wish to complete field placement in a CPS school for the senior year, the CPS Field Placement Application process must be completed PRIOR to the NLU Field Placement application process. If you did this in previous school years, it is still applicable through Practicum 3. The OFE staff will notify all seniors wanting to complete student teaching with CPS when they need to complete the CPS Student Teaching application. The due dates for UG Seniors and Post-Bac students for 2021-2022 are as follows:
