Field Coaches and Supervisors

NLU University Supervisors and Field Coaches are key partners in ensuring a positive and meaningful experience for all our teacher candidates. They also provide invaluable insight into questions and needs in PK-12 classrooms and are NLU’s representatives in the field, serving as a liaison between the university and our school partners. Field Coaches and University Supervisors’ relationship with our partner sites’ leadership, Cooperating/Mentor Teacher(s), and teacher candidate are a vital element to a successful field experience.

Role & Responsibility

As NLU teacher educators, NLU looks to our Field Coaches and University Supervisors to fulfill the following responsibilities for each of the teacher candidates to whom they are assigned:

  1. Encourage and facilitate the professional growth of the teacher candidate
  2. Observe, evaluate, and give on-going feedback to the candidate’s performance in the classroom with students
  3. Serve as liaison between the teacher candidates’ classroom/school and National Louis University.
