Chicago Campus Dual Degree Options

Universidad del Valle de México students will be provided with the opportunity to enroll in Kendall College at National Louis University’s Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Management or Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management programs.
Students who have completed two years at Universidad del Valle de México will then enroll at NLU for the final duration of their degree program. They will participate in pre-established courses and receive credit recognition from both institutions. After successful completion of course requirements, students will officially obtain two degrees, one from UVM and one from NLU.
Chicago Campus Dual Degree Program Offerings
Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Management
UVM students pursuing the Bachelor in Gastronomy or the Bachelor in International Gastronomy at UVM can pursue the Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Management at NLU.
Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management
UVM students pursuing the Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality Administration at UVM can pursue the Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management at NLU.
Visa Type
UVM students pursuing a Chicago campus dual degree option at NLU will need to study at NLU on an F-1 visa. Once admitted to NLU’s Chicago campus dual degree program, NLU’s Office of International Enrollment will help aid in the process of applying for a F-1 visa.
Intake Terms
UVM students can enter the 100% Online Dual Degree program four times a year, Summer (July), Fall (September), Winter (January), Spring (April).
How to Apply
- Contact your UVM home campus coordinator and let them know you would like to apply to NLU’s Chicago Campus dual degree program for UVM students.

Admission Requirements
Proof of English language proficiency is required if English is not the applicant's native language and/or high school degree was earned outside of the United States. This requirement may be waived if the applicant has proof of completion of a high school degree (for undergraduate admission), or a bachelor’s degree (for graduate admission) at an institution where English is the primary language of instruction.
Students who have completed an ESL program that is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), The Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET), or any of the six regional accrediting bodies for higher education institutions in the US within the past three calendar years may also be considered to have met the English proficiency requirements.
Below are the only tests accepted as evidence of English proficiency at NLU along with the minimum scores indicated for each. Only one of the following tests is required to complete your application.
- IELTS; Undergraduate Requirement: 6.0 overall, no sub-score lower than 5.5
- TOEFL iBT; Undergraduate Requirement: 72 total score
- Pearson Test of English; Undergraduate Requirement: 50 overall score
- Duolingo English Test; Undergraduate Requirement: 95 overall score
How to schedule and request your English Proficiency Test Scores:
- TOEFL scores must be reported to NLU directly from ETS.
- Use our Institutional Code 1551.
- All programs are able to access the test scores regardless of department code, as long as our institutional code is used.
- PTE Academic scores must be reported to NLU directly from Pearson.
- SelectNational Louis University from the institution selection menu.
- IELTS Academic results must be delivered to our Electronic Download account by the IELTS test center.
- Please contact the test center directly where you took the IELTS test and request that your test scores be sent to our E-Download account using the IELTS system with the following information:

- Duolingo English Test scores must be reported directly to NLU from DET
- DET does not use institution codes and you must send your DET scores through the DET secure portal to NLU.

NLU requires an official Foreign Transcript Evaluation from all students wishing to transfer in credit earned outside of the United States or U.S. territories. NLU requires a course-by-course evaluation of all transcripts as a course-by-course evaluations provide a more comprehensive overview of the student’s academic achievements.
Basic documents needed to complete your Foreign Transcript Evaluation are copies of your official transcripts including mark sheets. If your transcripts and mark sheets are in a language other than English, an English translation will be needed as well. You can visit www.edperspective.org/NLU/ for a list of required documents based on your country and level of education.
If you have already completed a Foreign Transcript Evaluation from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE) member, you can request your Official Foreign Transcript Evaluation to be sent directly from the evaluation agency to NLU.
Your NLU International Enrollment Specialist will help you with the process of collecting the needed documents for your Foreign Transcript Evaluation.
