Biography:
Elizabeth Schaefer, Ed.D., is Senior Director of Marketing, Communications, and Undergraduate Business at National Louis University and an Associate Professor. She provides leadership across NLU’s undergraduate Business Administration, Marketing, and Communication & Media programs and serves as Program Director for the Master of Science in Marketing & Communication.
Dr. Schaefer’s work spans academic leadership, strategic communications, marketing, program development, and student engagement.
She is the founder and executive editor of Communications Quarterly, NLU’s student-driven digital publication, and chairs an Industry Advisory Council whose members represent leading Chicago media, communications, advertising, and education organizations.
Dr. Schaefer holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership, an M.S. in Written Communication (Business/Marketing Pathway), an M.A. in Organizational Psychology, and a B.A. in German Literature. Her professional and scholarly interests include strategic marketing and communication, higher education leadership, emerging technologies and AI, organizational communication, experiential learning, and student identity development.

Research and Interests:
Elizabeth’s interests include conflict management, program development, project management, publishing, and creative writing. She has published six books, including a business writing textbook, a children’s book, an oral history book, and works of creative fiction.
